A BIT ABOUT FLOCK
At Flock we do insurance very differently.
Our real-time, data-driven approach means we’re able to price connected vehicle insurance and assess risk better than ever before, whilst giving fleet owners the insights they need to improve safety. We don’t just pay claims; we help our customers prevent them. We now insure hundreds of fleets in the UK, including the likes of JLR and Amazon, as well as fleets that work for DPD, Uber and Bolt.
Last year we completed our Series B funding of $38m, led by Octopus Ventures. Our goal is to become the leading insurance company for connected and autonomous vehicles, and we're building a world-class team to help us get there.
THE ROLE
The role will be at the heart of our FP&A engine room. You will be owning a range of FP&A activities including management reporting deliverables and aspects of our budgets/forecasts - but with a clear mandate to continue to evolve and improve these to support the business as it continues on its growth trajectory. As you build your understanding of the business you will also be expected to own ad hoc pieces of financial analysis to support business decisions by illustrating the financial impact of alternative courses of action (or recommending your own alternative options). As we are a small finance team there will furthermore be an expectation that the role holder will own some of the team’s other deliverables and tasks within the financial control area, particularly around month-end close.
WHAT WE THINK IS MOST EXCITING ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an opportunity for an ambitious financial analyst to have an impact on the business from day one. Your reporting and actionable insights will help set the financial agenda for the company and shape its direction. The role would therefore suit someone who has a deep desire to make a difference and see financial insights translated to action.
A LITTLE MORE ON WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
1. MANAGEMENT REPORTING: Own and continuously develop our monthly management reporting pack - delivering the pack itself and extracting and presenting key insights from the numbers. Own cost centre reporting and analysis, working with senior stakeholders in the business to help them manage their budgets and challenging unnecessary expense where you see it. Own other management reporting deliverables, current or future, such as sales performance reporting. Ownership of some BAU reporting to our investors.
2. BUDGETING AND FORECASTING: Own aspects of Flock’s budgeting and forecasting processes including cost centre forecasts. Over time there will be an opportunity to take full ownership of the company’s business forecasting model.
3. DECISION SUPPORT: Deliver ad hoc financial analysis to support key business decisions by analysing the financial impact of alternative courses of actions.
4. FINANCIAL CONTROL: Take ownership of aspects of the team’s BAU financial control activities, particularly around month-end. Other ad hoc activities where required across the full spectrum of the team’s activities including accounts receivable/payable and credit control.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO FLOCK

4. Advanced level of understanding of key financial concepts like NPV and experience deploying this knowledge to analyse business decisions.
