An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Child Health Pharmacy team at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) to develop a service to UHNM’s Maternity services. To be considered, you will be an experienced clinical pharmacist, able to demonstrate an ability to deliver high-quality care for patients.
Working closely with Clinicians, nursing staff, and the directorate management team, you will support in addressing improvements required following the recent CQC inspection. You will work closely with the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist Neonatology, Advanced Specialist Pharmacist Child Health, and the Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacist Surgical Division, to develop a service to maternity. You will be expected to provide a high-quality clinical service and provide clinical, financial, and risk management support to the maternity services. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to provide occasional clinical support to the Child Health team to ensure continuity of service.
Main duties of the job
This role, as with all our Advanced Pharmacist posts, has the responsibility of supervising diploma students and managing junior staff.
Furthermore, you will contribute to the strategic development of the clinical pharmacy service provided to the Children’s, Women’s and Support Services Division by supporting the Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacist for the Surgical Division and the Principal Pharmacist for Clinical Services.

Essential Qualifications
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent qualification
* Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
* MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
* Formal management and/or leadership qualification
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner including a solid grounding in a broad range of clinical specialties
* Experience working as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting
* Commitment and evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
* Computer literate and able to use Windows applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and internet
* High standard of oral and written (including report writing) communication skills with attention to detail
* Able to demonstrate good leadership skills
* Good and broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice and future direction of travel
* IT skills and knowledge of the digital medicines agenda.
* Able to appraise information/data and use it in solving problems
* Good knowledge of the medicines safety, risk management, and governance agenda and its application to the clinical role
* Experience providing education, training, and supervision of staff
* Clinical pharmacy experience within maternity services and an enthusiasm to develop this
* Evidence of involvement in pharmacy practice research and/or audit
* Publication of research in a peer-reviewed journal
* Experience line managing and/or conducting formal appraisals
* Evidence of involvement in writing guidelines
* Presentation of abstract on pharmacy practice research at a regional or national conference
