Supporting over 1,150 annual events, including theatre productions, operas, concerts, and commercial hires, our DPVS team is the backbone of Guildhall’s technical excellence across venues such as Milton Court Theatre and Concert Hall. As a Lighting Specialist, you will be integral to the planning, setup, and execution of lighting across our productions. This role requires hands-on expertise with both classical and contemporary lighting systems, ensuring high-quality technical support, safety, and compliance across our events. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the DPVS team to deliver outstanding lighting support across various venues, ensuring smooth, safe, and high-quality lighting operations for each event. Rig, program, and operate lighting for events, including student productions, professional performances, and commercial events. Maintain and troubleshoot lighting systems and equipment, including both generic and moving lights, while ensuring equipment scheduling and maintenance. Actively participate in the statutory testing, inspection, and compliance of lighting equipment, following all health and safety standards. Support the DPVS team across other technical areas, including sound, AV, and rigging, as required, contributing to the team’s overall effectiveness. What We’re Looking For: Demonstrable expertise in lighting operations within theatrical or concert settings, with experience in rigging, programming, and operating lighting systems. Familiarity with health and safety standards in production environments, including compliance with LOLER and PUWER. Strong team and communication skills, with the ability to support students and colleagues in a collaborative setting. Attention to detail, a proactive approach to troubleshooting, and a commitment to technical excellence. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for event scheduling. Essential Qualifications and Experience: Proven skills in concert or theatrical lighting, including programming, operating, and maintaining lighting systems. Industry-specific training or certifications in lighting and technical safety, such as PAT testing, LOLER, or IPAF for elevated platforms, or equivalent practical knowledge. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to support documentation and communication needs.
