Reed are working with an SEN school in the local area for 11-18 year olds looking for Teaching Assistants on both a short term and long term basis.
The work is temporary initially with a great opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate would need to have some experience working with SEN children and be happy to take on work at short notice from time to time.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 3.30pm term-time only.
About the Schools:
* The schools cater for students with additional needs, which include: Sensory and Physical Impairment, Cognition and Learning Needs such as SLD, MLD, SpLD, GDD, Communication and Interaction Issues, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH.
* Increased staffing and support, with a Class Teacher and at least 2 support staff per class.
Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:
* Providing individual and group support to students with complex needs i.e., Autism, Down’s Syndrome, ADHD.
* Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials and resources as necessary to meet the needs of individual students.
* Monitoring and recording student progress, feeding back to the class teacher and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Supporting students in accessing sensory activities and therapies.
* Liaising with parents and carers as required.
Qualifications and Experience (Desirable, but not Essential):
* Experience of working with children with additional needs in a school or educational setting.
* Knowledge and understanding of SEND.
* A positive and caring attitude, with the ability to provide support and care to students.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
