About This Role
At Emmanuel College, we want all our students to be enthused and inspired by Science, acknowledging its importance in enriching our lives and society. We want our students to become scientifically literate citizens who make positive decisions for themselves and their world. We are looking for a Senior Science Technician who shares this passion for science and is excited by the prospect of helping to deliver an exceptional science curriculum, with practical work at the heart of it, to all students.
Emmanuel College is a truly exceptional school, with excellent leadership, teaching and support for our students. We were inspected by Ofsted in October 2024 and deemed to be ‘Outstanding’ by all aspects of the school. In addition to this, we achieved record-breaking results at both GCSE and in the Sixth Form consolidating our position as one of the top-performing state schools both regionally and nationally.
The Science Department at Emmanuel College consists of a suite of eleven laboratories, one tutorial room, two preparation rooms, and a resource area situated in close proximity to the Mathematics and Technology curriculum areas. Each laboratory is well equipped and all have audiovisual facilities with interactive whiteboards.
The successful candidate will be able to lead a team of two other science technicians in the exemplary delivery of technical support in science lessons. Ideally holding a Science degree and laboratory experience, and a passion for science education, they will have a secure knowledge of all three science subject areas, and be up to date with curriculum developments in Science. They will be well qualified, self-motivating, adaptable and imaginative and keen to support a large team of science teachers in their delivery of an outstanding curriculum. They will be willing to support with science beyond the classroom, for example STEM clubs and Open Evenings.
