THE COMPANY
Our client is a leading company specialising in the heat treatment of steel & non-ferrous parts for the engineering industry. A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a small team involved in servicing and maintaining a range of heat treatment furnaces and associated plant.
THE PERSON
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will demonstrate:
1. A strong, hands-on engineering background;
2. The ability to carry out preventative maintenance and servicing of plant and equipment;
3. Possess good diagnostic skills to diagnose the causes and rectification of breakdowns;
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be:
1. Ideally qualified to HND or C&G in mechanical engineering;
2. Good mechanical/maintenance skills; including welding, fabrication, pipe fitting, replacing bearings, transmission systems including pulleys and belts;
3. Good computer literacy skills;
4. Good communication skills, liaising with client departments;
EXPECTED DUTIES TO BE CARRIED OUT ON SITE:
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be:
1. Working within the Engineering Department to carry out regular servicing and maintenance of thermal processing equipment.
2. Responding to breakdowns to evaluate and rectify plant issues.
3. Following predefined procedures to ensure continued safe/efficient operation of all equipment.
4. Ensuring designated tasks are completed within the scheduled time.
5. Assisting with project work such as installation and commissioning of new equipment, plant improvements and upgrades.
6. Monitoring stock levels and re-ordering as required.
7. Responding to breakdowns during out of hours situations.
8. Completing required documentation for the Engineering System.
9. Carrying out required training to confidently complete tasks for maintenance and installation activities.
Other skills would be beneficial but not essential:
1. Electrical understanding of equipment - contactors, inverters, basic control elements etc.
2. Welding, pipe fitting, vacuum technology, calibration, assembly of machines.
3. Computer Aided Design (CAD).
4. Understanding of combustion/burner systems.
5. Thermal equipment control systems.
