Duties of the Post:
The duties of the post, some of which will require physical effort such as standing for long
periods, walking distances, climbing stairs, bending, stretching, and lifting, pushing and pulling
and using cleaning and maintenance equipment and driving university transport, will include
the following:
1. The cleaning and preparation of various areas in the academic and associated buildings.
2. Complying with the requirements of Data Protection by ensuring confidentiality when dealing with
staff or keeping staff records.
3. Refuse and recycling collection and cleaning of external areas
4. Drive University owned vehicles when required.
5. Fault reporting.
6. Attend training programmes relevant to role.
When deputising for the Supervisor the duties will include, but are not limited to:
7. Undertake quality control inspections, including those for health and safety checks, repairs

and maintenance, and equipment safety and report findings to the specialist/Team Clean
Manager.
8. Co-ordinate the work of the cleaning team. This will include arranging cover in the event of
absence and annual leave.
9. Collate monthly stores orders for the cleaning team.
Customer Service
10. Proactively feed innovative ideas into the specialist /Team Clean Manager to progress the
operational service and improve customer service.
11. Have a positive and co-operative relationship with all colleagues, customers and visitors.
12. Flexibility in relation to university key events, such as Arrivals Day, Visit Days, student “move out”
days, Graduation, summer conference season and Christmas rubbish collection.
13. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Soft FM Services or his/her
nominee.
