Position Overview:
As a Product Designer – Tools & Systems at Octave, you will have a key role in improving the user experience for both clients and providers. Your responsibilities will include enhancing internal tools, optimizing therapist-centric workflows, and scaling critical integrations with external systems. You will also contribute to Octave’s design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and excellence across all products. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and the design team to deliver thoughtful, efficient, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Internal Tools & Systems:
Design and improve internal tools and systems to streamline provider workflows, including scheduling, billing, EHR integrations, and third-party platform connections.
2. Optimize the efficiency and usability of clinician-facing tools to meet the needs of therapists and administrative users.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and deliver impactful solutions.
1. Design Systems:
Contribute to and expand Octave’s design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with the organization’s evolving needs.
2. Enhance Octave’s branding throughout product experiences, building on a recently-launched brand refresh.
3. Develop and document reusable patterns, components, and guidelines to enhance usability and design efficiency.
4. Collaborate with engineering teams to seamlessly integrate the design system into product development.
5. Execute design tasks from concept to delivery, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
6. Incorporate insights from user research and usability testing to refine designs and improve user experiences.
7. Participate in sprint planning, design critiques, and cross-functional discussions to align design goals with broader product and engineering objectives.
8. Design tools and integrations to support Octave’s scaling efforts and enable third-party systems to work seamlessly with our platform.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. 2-4 years of professional experience in UX/UI or product design, with a portfolio demonstrating relevant work on internal tools, systems design, and/or design systems.
2. Strong experience designing for complex systems, internal tools, or enterprise workflows.
3. Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma and FigJam, with an ability to deliver polished, development-ready designs.
4. Deep understanding of design systems, including creating and maintaining reusable patterns, components, and guidelines.
5. Ability to incorporate insights from user research, usability testing, and data analysis into design iterations.
6. Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
7. Familiarity with healthcare workflows, EHR systems, billing systems, or scheduling platforms, and an interest in optimizing third-party integrations (nice to have).

Physical Requirements:
1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Frequent communication with others through virtual meeting applications.
3. Observation and communication of information on a company-provided laptop.
4. Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Compensation:
Octave is committed to pay equity and follows Pay Transparency regulations. We do not discriminate against employees or applicants who discuss or disclose their own or others’ pay. Starting pay for this role will depend on various factors and the expected salary range is $109,700 – $135,500. This position is also eligible for equity in the form of stock options and various benefits, such as life and disability insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
