Job Description
TEXO is currently looking for a Welding Engineer to join our Fabrication team based in Dundee. This is a key technical role supporting both our onshore and offshore construction operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the technical lead for all welding activities across TEXO’s operations, ensuring consistent adherence to high standards and compliance with industry codes and client specifications.
* Lead welding process development initiatives and drive continuous improvement in welding methods and quality.
* Manage and maintain TEXO’s bank of weld procedures and welder qualifications, including ongoing review, revalidation, and compliance with relevant codes and standards (European, ASME, ISO).
* Act as the main point of contact for welding audits conducted by clients and Notified Bodies (NOBOs).
* Develop and implement new welding procedure qualification tests (WPQTs) and welder qualifications tailored to specific project requirements.
* Prepare, analyse, and review welding procedures, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
* Approve both permanent and project specific welder certifications prior to mobilisation.
* Research and introduce new fabrication methods, welding processes, and technologies to improve productivity and efficiency.
* Oversee the upkeep, calibration, and certification records of all welding equipment.
* Maintain a register of approved welders for in house and on site work, ensuring records are up to date and aligned with project needs.
* Provide technical support across departments including Estimating, Engineering, Design, Fabrication, and Welding.
* Mentor junior welding engineers, provide guidance to the wider welding team, and assign workload as appropriate.
* Conduct metallurgical evaluations as needed to ensure proper selection and application of welding techniques.
* Manage all welding-related data and documentation in accordance with industry and client standards.
* Supervise and conduct regular audits of TEXO’s weld consumables storage facilities.
* Create and enhance quality management system (QMS) procedures relating to welding activities.
Requirements
* Ideally qualified as a European Welding Engineer (IIW/EWF) or equivalent; extensive industry experience in a similar role will also be considered.
* Membership of The Welding Institute (TWI) with valid certification.
* Knowledge of current and emerging welding technologies and standards.
* Strong understanding of health and safety principles within fabrication and welding environments.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
