As the Pricing Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Royal Mail’s pricing strategy to ensure competitiveness, profitability, and alignment with market dynamics. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Finance, Sales, and Marketing teams to optimise pricing structures across all products and services, whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
This is a pivotal role where you will develop and execute a comprehensive pricing strategy that maximises revenue and market share whilst maintaining profitability.
You will be responsible for conducting market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and customer segmentation to inform pricing decisions. This is a collaborative role, working closely with finance, commercial, and operations teams to assess cost structures and develop data-driven pricing models. As the subject matter expert, you will monitor pricing performance and implement adjustments based on market trends, customer feedback, and financial results. This key role will also require someone who can demonstrate strong leadership and mentorship to the team, whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement and commercial acumen.
Reporting: Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer - This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to attend our Head Office in Farringdon, London.
Team: Minimum line management of 24 pricers, plus functional leadership.
About You
Key Experience:
1. Proven experience in a senior pricing, revenue management, or commercial strategy role, ideally within logistics, postal services, e-commerce, or transportation sectors.
2. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
3. Expertise in B2B dynamic pricing and value-based pricing methodologies.
4. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at C-suite level.
5. Strong leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
6. Deep understanding of UK regulatory frameworks related to pricing and competition.
7. Proficiency in price authoring and price optimisation software, analytics tools, and data competency.
Qualifications:
1. A first class or 2.1 degree in quantitative/analytical studies, such as economics, maths, statistics or equivalent. A professional that holds an MBA would be advantageous.
