Carlton Keighley is a small community secondary school, set in an attractive semi-rural location. In 2018 we joined Carlton Academy Trust (CAT), which proudly oversees three secondary schools, three primary schools, and three special schools, collectively educating nearly 5,000 students and employing almost 1,000 members of staff. All CAT schools are rated either Outstanding or Good by Ofsted. Since then, the school has made rapid progress, gaining its’ first ever ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in January 2020. Standards in the school have continued to improve due to our culture of high expectations, resulting in some of our best exam results ever and a rapidly expanding school roll. Although a remarkable journey, this is not the limit of the school’s ambitions as it aspires to the Trust motto of ‘Excellence for All’ and becoming an outstanding school over the next few years. As such, aspirations of all students are high and don’t allow the significant disadvantages that they face to be an excuse for poor outcomes. Teaching and learning is the focus of everything we do, investing in staff through regular, high-quality research-led professional development.
Carlton Keighley is a great place to work with helpful, friendly, and supportive staff and excellent standards of student behaviour and conduct which promote a calm, purposeful atmosphere within lessons and around school. Staff welfare is a priority, and we strive to preserve a proper work-life balance through small class sizes, early Friday finishes, with meetings and paperwork kept to an absolute minimum.
We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to support the Designated Safeguarding Lead by providing a high quality, responsive service to students faced with welfare and safeguarding issues, in accordance with statutory responsibilities and making referrals to appropriate agencies when required under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to and prioritising matters of safeguarding, child protection and wellbeing concerns as they arise and are reported in a timely manner. As well as, working to engage students, families and carers of our students and working as part of multi-agency teams with external agencies to improve outcomes for students.
