We are a busy GP training practice looking to recruit a Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join our team. We are looking for applicants with excellent communication skills both face to face and over the telephone. Applicants who can communicate with people kindly and sensitively, as well as keep calm during a crisis and work in an efficient organized manner is essential.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work at the practice as a Receptionist/Administrator and be part of a busy team providing crucial first line contact with patients and visitors. Excellent computer skills are essential. Your duties will include booking appointments, dealing with electronic mail and tasks, providing clerical support such as assisting with referrals, as well as processing repeat prescriptions. Full training will be provided.
36 hours worked over 4.5 days, Monday to Friday. Examples of sessions: 7.45am - 4.45pm; 9.30am - 6.30pm; 8.30am - 12.30pm.

We have a team of over 30 colleagues consisting of GP Partners, salaried GPs, GP Registrars, Practice Manager Partner, Assistant Practice Manager, Practice Pharmacist, Advance Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Physiotherapists, Counsellor and Mental Health Support Workers. Reception Admin and Secretarial Colleagues supported by Reception and Admin Team Leaders.
Job responsibilities
1. Meeting and greeting patients and visitors in reception.
2. Answering main surgery telephone lines.
3. Dealing with calls efficiently and accurately, as well as supporting patients with their enquiries and needs.
4. Care Navigation and signposting patients to appropriate agencies.
5. Document scanning.
6. Working as a member of the repeat prescribing team.
Please note that we welcome candidates with a General Practice background and candidates with allied experience, as full training will be given.
