Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) team at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role involves providing high-quality mental health care to children and young people aged 0-18, conducting assessments, developing care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
The successful candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to support young people with a range of emotional, psychological, and behavioral difficulties. You will have the opportunity to work in a rewarding environment, contributing to the well-being and development of young people, while receiving support and supervision to further your professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct mental health and risk assessments.
2. Deliver evidence-based interventions.
3. Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
4. Contribute to care planning and review processes.
Essential Requirements
1. Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with relevant professional body registration.
2. Passion for working with children and young people in a mental health setting.
Main duties of the job
1. A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, community-based mental health services to children, young people, and their families.
2. Experience in providing interventions & formulations to address the needs of the client group.
3. Experience of working with children and young people who, due to their mental and emotional health needs, present with a level of clinical risk.
4. Experience of working under pressure and in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
5. Ability to adapt and think on your feet due to the nature of your role.
6. Access to transport or have the ability to travel to a variety of venues as part of the working day.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Criteria
1. Qualified in a core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional).
2. Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England).
Desirable criteria
1. Psychology or other mental health related undergraduate degree.
2. Nationally recognised postqualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional).
Knowledge and Expertise Essential criteria
1. Knowledge of child psychology and development.
2. Demonstrates an understanding of young peoples anxiety and depression and how it may present.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of parenting and behaviour management interventions.
4. Demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of multisystemic issues such as home, school and community.
5. Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation.
Desirable criteria
1. Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological and systemic therapies and how it relates to this post.
Experience Essential criteria
1. Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people.
2. Experience of multi-agency working.
3. Experience of working in a mental health and/or CYP setting.
Desirable criteria
1. Evidence of working in the local community.
2. Experience of routine outcome monitoring.
