Rethink Mental Illness are hiring a Support Worker to join our inspiring and friendly team at Sheffield Crisis House. This vacancy is for 3 x shifts per week of sleeping nights - Shift pattern is 5pm -11pm (8 hours Sleep) 7am - 9am.
Sheffield Crisis House Short-Term Stay:
Our crisis house provides a short-term support service for adults (18+) experiencing acute mental health crises. Sheffield Crisis House plays a vital role in supporting individuals during acute mental health crises by providing a safe and supportive environment. Here’s a summary of the key aspects of the service:
* Our service is a 6-bed residence with communal areas, including a kitchen, lounge, and garden. It is staffed 24/7 to ensure continuous support and care.
* We work in partnership with Sheffield Health and Social Care, ensuring integrated and comprehensive care.
* We provide emotional support and guidance during crises and assist individuals in developing or re-engaging with coping strategies and daily activities. We deliver person-centred support focused on improving the safety and wellbeing of each individual.
Overview Of a Mental Health Support Worker Role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will offer people affected by mental illness the support and help they need to regain their confidence and get involved in everyday social and workplace activities. You will be working closely with service users to achieve their own personal goals and access all the support they need on their recovery journey.
Essential Skills And Experience Required:
* You may have experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
* Transferable Life/Work Experience: You bring valuable experiences from your personal or professional life that can be applied to this role.
* Listening and Empathy: You are a good listener, empathetic, understanding, kind, patient, and willing to learn.
* Values Alignment: You can demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of our Charity, including hope, understanding, expertise, equity, commitment, passion, and openness.
