The School of Commercial Industries and Access currently includes students on 16-18 study programmes and T Levels, adult programmes including access and part time adult programmes, as well as a substantial HE provision. We are now seeking a Head of Section Travel and Tourism, Direct Pathways and Esports. The focus of the Head of Section is to ensure that current and future students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications at high levels and to develop long-lasting learning and employability skills. Success is measured in terms of value added, meaningful progression in education and training and destination into higher education and/or employment. Youll become a member of the School Management Team and have collective responsibility for the implementation of the School Business and Improvement Plans, as well as contributing to College Objectives and Improvement Plans. The Section has a diverse curriculum area with programmes including Aviation, Cabin Crew, Esports, Travel & Tourism and Directed Pathways. The teaching commitment is in the field of Travel & Tourism, Aviation and/or Esports. As our Head of Section, we would like you to hold a degree or relevant professional qualifications in an appropriate subject, hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) and hold a management qualification (or willing to work towards) with experience of managing, supporting and developing staff. You will have excellent teaching skills and be recognised as a good or better teacher on BTEC Travel & Tourism/Esports programmes with experience of leading in a BTEC Travel & Tourist/Aviation/Esports curriculum area and have a track record of making sustained improvements. Having participated in recent and relevant continuous professional development, you will have current knowledge of impending curriculum changes and the implications for teaching and learning strategies with a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes and how these can be used to enhance the student experience. With a strong vision for the improvement and development of the curriculum area, you will be experienced working with lower-level learners and of successfully monitoring and supporting at-risk learners to achieve or exceed their potential. The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
