Job Description
As the Assistant Chief Engineer - Safety, you hold a key strategic role to define and support the delivery of the PWR3 (Dreadnought) Safety strategy and the associated programmes of work. You will lead and develop a small team and have exposure across all product areas of the business. You will regularly interface with external customer stakeholders at all levels, participate in formal reviews associated with safety governance and assurance, and have the opportunity to travel to customer operational bases.
The role offers a broad variety of experiences and an excellent platform to develop and progress through the business. You will support both the PWR1 and PWR2, and Dreadnought Chief Engineer's roles, developing and implementing the overall PWR3 - Dreadnought safety strategy across the product lifecycle.
What you will be doing:
With this attractive opportunity, you will:
1. Provide strategic engineering direction for all emergent and planned Dreadnought safety campaigns undertaken by the business.
2. Act as the primary point of contact for strategic Dreadnought safety case matters with internal specialists and suppliers, external customers, and other stakeholders.
3. Provide safety programme leadership and comply with the Engineering function's policies and within the Chief Engineer's Terms of Reference.
4. Maintain appropriate engagement with internal/external stakeholders to ensure that nuclear safety case activities are correctly focused, integrated, efficient, and effective.
5. Represent the Chief Engineer in discussions with customers and other stakeholders.
Who we're looking for:
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
1. Technical Leadership experience in a highly regulated environment (Defence/Nuclear/Aerospace/Oil and Gas).
2. Knowledge of product safety & regulatory requirements.
3. Experience dealing with customers and senior stakeholders in meetings/reviews/committees.
4. Project Management capabilities and experience.
5. Relevant Science/Engineering degree.
