This post forms part of the Salisbury GI Unit which is an ambitious, forward-thinking service, combining gastroenterology, upper gastrointestinal and colorectal surgery, emergency general surgery, and endoscopy. The service provides complete care for patients with disorders relating to the gastrointestinal tract in both the emergency and elective inpatient and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will join our team to provide an integrated digestive diseases service across the Salisbury area. The department is actively seeking to improve the provision of services to the local community and to the region. The team have an excellent track record of innovation, and are looking to recruit ambitious consultants who are passionate to develop and shape a modern, innovative gastroenterology service, providing outstanding care to local patients. Subspecialty interest will be encouraged where this contributes to and complements the department and Trust's service needs. At present there are vacancies for all sub-specialty interests within the gastroenterology service. This roles attracts a RRP of £5000 as well as a generous relocation package of up to £8000. Main duties of the job Some of the duties for this role include but are not limited to: Undertake general and sub-speciality outpatient sessions by telephone, video call or face-to-face in the purpose-built department of Salisbury District Hospital and peripheral hospitals if required. Undertake upper and lower GI endoscopy sessions in the endoscopy suite at Salisbury District Hospital Take part in the provision of an acute gastroenterology service on a 2 in 12 basis. This will include ward rounds for gastroenterology patients 6 days per week, assessment of gastroenterology referrals from the acute medical take and from other clinical teams as well as cover for upper GI bleeds within working hours (0900-1800). Contribute to the management of the department and the hospital. Contribute to the teaching of both undergraduates and trainees. Undertake an annual job plan review, appraisal and re validation. Actively engage and contribute to the trust clinical governance processes.
