About you:
Are you a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist specialising in Paediatric patients? We have an opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on their Auditory Implant Services to provide a specialised clinical/counselling psychology service to deaf patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide a specialist psychology service to children and young people who are either undergoing an assessment to see if they might benefit from a Cochlear Implant/s, or who have already had their Cochlear Implant surgery.
* Consult and advise on patient’s psychological care to the wider multi-disciplinary team, as well as liaising with external agencies.
* Formulate, select and implement evidence-based psychological interventions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the problem and drawing upon a range of therapeutic models.
* Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups – adjusting and refining psychological formulations, drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
* Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation and treatment plan.
* Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
* Skilfully communicate in a sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation, and intervention with patients and their families, as well as with the wider multi-disciplinary team to help develop psychologically informed care.
Essential Qualifications:
* DClinPsych or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Clinical/Counselling Psychology.
* Membership of relevant professional body (BPS or ACP).
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Knowledge and experience of more than one therapeutic intervention.
* Experience in working in the field of disability/health issues.
* Commitment to diversity and equality.
* Demonstrable experience of undertaking research and considering clinical applications.
* Experience of working with deaf patients/clients and knowledge of cochlear implants.
* British Sign Language level 1 or willingness to learn.
