Introduction:
A Direct Payments recipient in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs.
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently.
The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.
The main duties to be included within this role are to:
• Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
• Work with the person to understand their needs and wishes.
• Support the person to organise and manage household.
• Take person to the supermarket
• Help arranging weekly diet and meal planning
• Support the person to access activities of importance.
• Support the person to shower and manage personal care
• Support the employer to develop independent living skills.
• Provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
• Carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
The client is looking for a Personal Assistant that fits the following person specification:
• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Has good local knowledge
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
Training provided, if required
Applicant must be able to work with a small Pug dog
