Senior Quantity Surveyor - Kentish Town, London

Murphy is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our award-winning Energy team in Kentish Town, London. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide assistance, support, and advice on all commercial issues across a portfolio of projects within our UK Energy business.
Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients such as National Grid, SSE and Ørsted, on both transmission and distribution networks within the Energy sector.
What you will be doing
1. Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance
2. Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
3. Preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract
4. Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation
5. Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
6. Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
7. Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
8. Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
9. Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements
10. Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required
Who we are looking for?
11. HND/Degree qualification
12. Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a Quantity Surveyor looking to step up.
13. Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
14. Strong communication within presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
15. Experience within a construction/engineering/similar and commercial background.
