About the Role:
Are you a skilled Civil Engineer looking to make an impact? Join our team and manage exciting civil engineering biased projects that drive operational efficiency and ensure our factory and office facilities are running smoothly. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining infrastructure, ensuring safety compliance, and leading new equipment installations throughout the site.
As the Client's Representative Civil Engineer, your role will involve collaborating with the design team to develop the optimal solution, value-engineering the proposed designs, and reaching out to external civil and building contractors. You will assess their proposals, prices, and plans, assist in selecting the most suitable contractor, and oversee their work to ensure the projects are delivered to the required standards. You'll also collaborate with contractors to address any variations or additional work. Projects will range from £2-3K to £15 million in value, varying significantly in complexity. Most will involve factory, office space and warehouse adaptations, new-build civil and construction projects such as building new warehouse or factory extensions, RC foundations, drainage and remedial civil works. These will encompass a mixture of planned capital works and responsive maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and assist in various civil engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
2. Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to negotiate competitive prices and maintain safety, quality, and environmental standards.
3. Plan, install, and commission projects while ensuring adherence to UK safety regulations.
4. Maintain site facilities, including roads, drains, buildings, and services, and ensure compliance with maintenance and safety requirements.
5. Serve as the primary contact for external service providers and manage contract labour for projects.
6. Act as client or principal contractor as required under HSE (CDM) regulations.
7. Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
8. Communicate progress to Heads of Department and other relevant parties.
9. Provide civil engineering and build knowledge to both our Newcastle and Scotland Facility, therefore travel will be required from time to time.
Qualifications:
1. ONC/HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Building.
2. Supervisory and management experience essential.
3. Knowledge of Site Health and Safety rules.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
5. Experience with AutoCAD and SAP and understanding building designs is essential.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
7. Experience of having worked for a civils or Build contractor
Desirable Skills:
1. SMSTS and CSCS qualification.
2. Valid Driving License
3. Good IT Skills
4. Experience of delivering build or civils projects in the Manufacturing, pharmaceutical industries.
