My client is a fast-growing engineering company seeking a Fabrication Supervisor to join their team.
The Role
You will lead the fabrication team to ensure customer schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and the company’s health and safety policies are promoted and followed. You will also be responsible for identifying improvements across the department and using lean techniques to drive efficiencies.
Working hands-on with the fabrication team, you'll contribute to completing the production schedule while coaching and mentoring team members.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the department is fully compliant with statutory and company health and safety policies.
• Organise and prioritise team workloads based on the production schedule, ensuring deadlines and OTIF (On Time In Full) targets are met.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the department, acting as the first point of contact for all operational activities.
• Provide updates to the Site Manager and team at daily morning briefings regarding output, quality, and health and safety matters.
• Ensure all welded products meet the highest quality standards.
• Manage the team, including performance management and absence tracking.
• Motivate the team to meet deadlines and provide training to promote a multi-skilled workforce.
• Maintain housekeeping to agreed standards (5S methodology).
• Ensure materials are issued to operators in a timely manner and report any material issues or stock-outs to the planning department.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings to support product realisation.
• Conduct learning sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
• Comply with all health and safety requirements and quality standards.
• Follow all relevant processes and policies in line with company expectations.
The Candidate
Holds a relevant engineering qualification
Certified welder/fabricator
Experienced in supervising or managing a team
Able to read and work from engineering drawings
Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
Familiarity with CAD software
Experience with MIG and steel welding
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
The Package
The salary for this position is £35,000 – £40,000, dependent on skills, experience, and ability to meet the key requirements of the role.
