This is a terrific opportunity for a CDM Principal Designer / Construction Design Manager to join a well-established, independent firm, regulated by the RICS, providing a range of construction services as part of an existing team of Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Architects.
ROLE: CDM PRINCIPAL DESIGNER – CONSTRUCTION DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT
LOCATION: Based in Kent. Driving licence and own transport required as office is set in the beautiful countryside of Kent.

HOURS: Permanent, full time, Monday- Friday. Flexible working, core office hours.
As CDM Principal Designer, you will be an integral part of a growing function within the business, ensuring the highest standards of safety and CDM compliance on the design of building and construction projects, for Private and Public Sectors across the Southeast.
Engaging with a broad spectrum of clients, leading a variety of projects including Heritage, Commercial, Residential, Education and Local Authorities to ensure the Design Principles are maintained throughout the construction phase.
Day to day duties and responsibilities include:
1. Produce and compile CDM pre-construction information.
2. Review and advise on construction phase health and safety plans provided by contractors.
3. Attend construction and maintenance sites to undertake safety inspections.
4. Produce and submit safety reports to contractors.
5. Identify risks during the design and construction stages of a project.
6. Produce and maintain design risk registers.
7. Review, maintain and produce safety documentation.
8. Review design drawings and highlight risks to consultants and contractors.
9. Attend design and site progress meetings.
10. Fulfil the company's role as Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015.
11. Advise other members of the team on H&S matters and relevant changes to legislation.
12. Advise clients, designers and contractors regarding their duties under the CDM regulations.
As a Principal Designer CDM, you will be self-motivated, with excellent analytical, communication and computing skills, able to work as part of a team whilst using your own initiative, in an organised and methodical manner, with a high level of attention to detail.
As a CDM Principal Designer, you will have a construction H&S related qualification (HND/ Degree or equivalent), NEBOSH certificate, experience of working within a main contractor or consultancy, a sound knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations, and possibly Membership of the Association for Project Safety (APS).
