Our client is an award-winning international studio for architecture and integrated design, with headquarters in London, and 14 offices worldwide employing c1400 people. They have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of their multidisciplinary engineering team in London. You will be required to work within a team to develop the successful projects through clear strategy and proactive commitment nationally and internationally. This is a fantastic opportunity with a top tier firm working on some of the most prestigious projects in the world which include projects in aviation, highrise, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Responsibilities:
1. Represent the company in a professional and diligent manner at all times.
2. Adhere to the design process and undertake mechanical engineering design activities relating to the project.
3. Fulfil the Practice’s overall objective in producing first class architecture and engineering on time and on budget.
4. Have thorough knowledge of, and comply with, company procedures and standards.
5. Review and manage projects from inception to post-construction duties.
6. Possess good knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, regulations, guides, and good practice.
7. Contribute and assist, as required by the Project Leader, Senior Partner, or nominated Engineer.
Qualities and Skills Required:
1. Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
2. Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.
3. Qualified as or working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.
4. Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the mechanical engineer within the design team.
5. Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.
6. Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material.
7. Ability to use initiative in response to demands of projects.
8. Able to negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written, or verbal forms, including the ability to listen and understand others.
9. Ability to understand and formulate design decisions.
10. A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and a proven commitment to independent, lifelong learning.
11. Self-organized and motivated.
12. Developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
13. Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team.
14. Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
15. Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritize duties and work effectively under pressure.
16. Ability to use Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office suite.
17. International project experience.
18. LEED qualified or having working familiarity with environmental assessment methods such as LEED/BREEAM/WELL etc.
19. Broad understanding of sustainable design and the role of HVAC systems design in the built environment, with some knowledge on MEP embodied carbon.
20. Familiarity with ASHRAE design standards, including 55, 62.1, 90.1 etc.
21. Ability to use some of the following software applications: IES, Adobe Creative Suite.
