Duties as a Year 1 Teacher:
1. Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that meet the needs of all learners
2. Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
3. Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive learning
4. Use assessment data to inform teaching and track pupil progress
5. Support children’s social and emotional development, especially during the transition from EYFS
6. Lead daily phonics and develop pupils' early reading, writing, and numeracy skills
7. Liaise with parents/carers, keeping them informed of progress and working in partnership
8. Work collaboratively with colleagues, including support staff and subject leads
9. Contribute to school life through clubs, events, and enrichment opportunities
10. Engage in ongoing CPD and reflective practice to continually improve
Ideal Year 1 Teacher:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
2. A strong understanding of early years development and KS1 expectations
3. Creativity in lesson planning, with strong phonics and early literacy skills
4. Excellent communication, behaviour management, and classroom organisation
5. A kind, reflective approach with a genuine passion for primary teaching
