We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the construction of a self-storage unit in Havant, Portsmouth. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in commercial, industrial, or warehouse construction projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project is delivered to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
* Oversee and manage the entire construction process from pre-construction to project close-out.
* Lead a multidisciplinary team including site managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
* Provide strategic direction and resolve complex issues to ensure smooth project delivery.
Health & Safety Oversight:
* Champion health and safety policies, ensuring compliance across all site activities.
* Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
* Foster positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
Budget and Financial Management:
* Take full accountability for project budgets, ensuring financial controls are in place.
* Prepare and present detailed cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial updates.
Program & Scheduling:
* Develop and manage the master project program, identifying critical paths and potential risks.
* Proactively address delays or issues to keep the project on track.
Quality Assurance:
* Ensure all construction work aligns with design specifications, building regulations, and quality standards.
* Lead site inspections, commissioning, and snagging processes.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Industry Expertise:
* Minimum 8-10 years of experience managing commercial, industrial, or warehouse construction projects.
* Extensive experience working with main contractors.
* Familiarity with self-storage or similar facility construction is highly desirable.
Leadership & Communication:
* Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate large teams.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Technical & Commercial Acumen:
* Comprehensive knowledge of UK building regulations and industry best practices.
* Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage project complexities.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
* Professional certifications such as MCIOB or MRICS are advantageous.
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
* CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
* First Aid and temporary works coordination qualifications are preferred
