Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer
Support and operate business critical university data centre environments across campus locations and off-site data centre sites. Design and implement technical environments and platforms throughout their entire lifecycle. Collaborate with suppliers, staff, and the University community to capture requirements and agree implementation details.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement flexible and innovative technical environments and platforms
- Ensure reliability and quality of services delivered by creating and maintaining processes, policies, standards, and documentation
- Respond to alarms and alerts, triaging, resolving and/or escalating, as necessary
- Engage with roadmaps and strategic change to understand how the data centre infrastructure service should evolve
Collaborate with technical specialists, service delivery teams, academic staff, professional services, and faculty colleagues. Engage with datacentre facilities, hardware and software suppliers, and other academic institutions. Work with iSolutions to support the delivery of the University's research and education activities.
Requirements:
- Experience of working within a large, highly available data centre environment
- Experience of managing and troubleshooting enterprise level network, server and storage hardware and software
- Significant experience of delivering change using appropriate methodologies
- Relevant technical, engineering or science degree and/or equivalent technical experience OR Higher Qualification in Computing or qualifications from Microsoft, Red Hat or VMware OR Skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification
