An Indirect Tax Analyst / Tax Junior is required to join a company in Hull and an expanding Tax and Treasuryteam. The role has been created since the decision was made to bring all tax matters in house last year and is therefore a rare opportunity for you to help shape the department, in a rapidly growing business.
The role reports to the Group Tax Manager and is ideal for someone looking for a new challenge with an international remit.
THE ROLE:
* Overseeing UK VAT compliance, including the timely preparation and filing of the Groups quarterly VAT returns.
* Managing overseas indirect tax compliance through liaison with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
* Ownership of the Groups indirect tax balance sheet reconciliation process for audit purposes including acting as a key liaison with external auditors for indirect tax matters.
* Reviewing and testing the Groups VAT control environment as part of a process of continuous improvement.
* Regularly evaluating the Groups Making Tax Digital policy for VAT and identifying efficiencies in the VAT return preparation process.
* Continually monitoring developments with respect to indirect tax rules and overseeing any required changes to the Groups ERP and billing systems to maintain compliance and to meet electronic invoicing requirements.
* Identifying and reviewing key data metrics for compliance with SAO provisions.
* Responding to operational tax queries from both internal and external stakeholders.
* Reviewing employee expenses and related invoices to identify further VAT recovery opportunities.
* Providing support for direct tax related activities and project work as required.
The role also offers the opportunity to continually develop as a tax professional through supporting the Groups tax function in other areas of taxation.
THE PERSON:
* Tax or accountancy qualified (candidates qualified by experience are also considered).
* 1-2 years of experience in a role managing reporting and compliance obligations.
* Fundamental VAT knowledge including basic concepts of European VAT.
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
* Desire to develop tax skillset though autonomous research.
* Ability to respond positively to changing business issues.
* A motivated, tenacious, and driven attitude with the ability to suggest and implement process improvements.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and complete work to a high standard under pressure.
With the global headquarters in London, this role offers the opportunity to work in our central finance function based out of Hull. If required a hybrid contract can be offered to allow some flexibility for you to work from for part of the week.
