Role and key responsibilities
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, part of a team of 8, and working closely with all areas of Finance including teams in the international offices. The Group Finance team are responsible for Global Financial Control including group reporting, month and year end results, ensuring integrity of all balance sheets and leading the audit of the Group accounts for all UK entities.
This role is accountable for:
1. The preparation and co-ordination of the management accounts plus associated reporting on a monthly basis. The role has oversight of critical areas of the management accounts such as WIP, debt & foreign exchange.
2. Review and challenge of the Group’s balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial control and accuracy plus identification and management of risks and opportunities across the Group.
3. Management of SAP general ledger alterations such as new account codes / cost centres and FX configuration. In addition ownership of the chart of accounts hierarchy to ensure completeness of reporting.
4. Contribution to the UK external audit to result in an efficient audit with minimal management letter points, plus support to the international finance teams as required with local filings.
5. Acting as the first point of contact for our international Finance teams to aid them in the production of their accounts.
6. Reconciliation of reserves by legal entity ensuring all statutory adjustments are accounted for correctly locally and at a Group level.
7. Management, coaching and development of accountants and assistant accountants within the Financial Control team (3-4 people).
Skills and experience
8. Strong technical knowledge of FRS102 demonstrated by excellent Financial Control experience.
9. Professionally qualified accountant with industry experience.
10. Partnership and international experience preferred but not essential.
11. Must be able to work effectively, build strong relationships and be able to influence and work across complex entities, systems and countries.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
