Closing Date: 26th January 2025

As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, playing a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape for wildlife and people.
What it's like to work here
This role is based at Woolacombe. The wider ranger team includes 6 rangers, and you will report to the Lead Ranger.
Devon is a county of contrasts - from surfing beaches and spectacular cliffs on the north coast to the mellow south Devon countryside, with the wilds of Dartmoor. Our North Devon portfolio has it all! With inspiring valleys, sandy beaches, towering cliffs, woodlands, and moorland, North Devon was a favourite landscape of the Romantic Poets. It provides all visitors with a huge opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with walks of all shapes and sizes, and if you love the outdoors, you’ll love being part of our team who promote our cause and the importance of preserving these special places for future generations.
What you'll be doing
You’ll take the lead in managing our access infrastructure, ensuring our extensive path network is in good condition, and proactively seeking to improve access for everyone. You will use your knowledge and experience to support the Rangers and volunteers in delivering habitat and estate management across the property. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions.
You’ll ensure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, work with our farm tenants, and proudly represent the Trust, letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
Who we're looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you’re:
1. Practically experienced in conservation work to protect and improve habitats and landscapes.
2. Happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing and why it matters.
3. Hard-working and willing to learn.
4. Able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines.
5. Experienced in managing land, access, and conservation, and working outdoors.
6. Able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates.
