The Opportunity:
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Material Control Team Leader – Repairs, to work within our customer repairs team. This team is responsible for all customer repairs transacted via the Luton Capability Green site covering many product ranges and customers.
The Material Control Team Leader - Repairs will ensure plans are available, maintained, and resources are in place to manage all operational activities required to successfully process, deliver, and support the product portfolio.
The role will require rigorous planning & control to ensure customers' assets are processed & delivered within the contractual obligations set. Labour planning & flexibility is also key to ensure that a high level of efficiency is maintained.
The right candidate will champion and facilitate a culture of continuous improvement focusing on improving throughput times, materials management & cost reduction activities. The ability to engage and create collaborative relationships across multiple functions including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance as well as with Programme Management is critical.
What you will do as a Material Control Team Leader:
* Manage a team of Material Controllers to process and progress customer repairs in line with plans and budgets.
* Ownership of Material Control input to Bid activities for new business opportunities.
* Management of agreed manufacturing budgets and risk provisions.
* Solid knowledge of and adherence to Life Cycle Management processes.
* Planning and scheduling of resources required to successfully deliver the service.
* Leadership of continuous improvement in support of business objectives.
* Understanding the mechanics and factors affecting manufacturing demand with the ability to impact as needed.
* Provide technical leadership, training, coaching, and guidance as necessary to optimise overall process effectiveness.
* Ownership of a suite of meaningful KPI’s that drive operational & service delivery excellence.
* Monitoring and review of KPI trends to ensure early warning systems are in place to de-risk delivery and quality.
* Regular review of expenditure on labour and material to ensure most efficient and appropriate usage of both in line with forecasts & project performance reviews.
* Championing and facilitation of a culture of Continuous Improvement.
* Optimisation of WIP and stockholdings to ensure maximum cash flow whilst maintaining the desired service levels.
* Empowering teams to find, analyse and solve production and supply chain problems with corrective actions.
* Managing capacity plans in line with business area expectations.
* Working closely with the IPT stakeholders to optimise demand & supply management.
* Preparation and presentation of business reports as required by IPT and/or Business area.
* Working constructively with a wide array of functions and fostering strong, productive relationships.
What we need from you:
* Previous experience of operational management and budget management is essential.
* Prior experience or knowledge of Managing an MRO / Repairs service is desirable.
* Prior experience in a defence / aerospace environment is desirable.
* Experience of delivering operational improvements.
* BSc/MSc Operations or Engineering is desirable or equivalent experience as a minimum.
Skills and attributes:

Technical skills:
* SAP service order processing.
* Knowledge and experience of MRP systems.
* Process mapping & the theory of constraints (bottleneck analysis).
