ROLE TITLE: Health and Safety Manager - NEBOSH Qualified
PRIMARY BASE: Haslingden, Rossendale
REPORTING TO: Operations Manager
Hours of Work: 8am - 4pm or 9am to 5pm 37.5 hours per week (flexible with requirement to be available to attend during shifts on occasion)
Our client, an innovative manufacturer based in Haslingden, is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join an extremely successful and growing organisation. This role offers autonomy, a great working pattern, and an extremely varied workload.
THE PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To address potential hazards and promote safe practices. Reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and associated costs. Be an Advocate for workers' health and safety, wellbeing, and safe working practices. Provide guidance, support, and training to employees. Foster a culture of safety for increased productivity and improved well-being. Ensure legal compliance by staying updated on occupational health and safety regulations. Protect the organisation from legal consequences and reputational damage through compliance of regulatory and legislative compliance by shaping new protocols and strengthening existing health and safety policies.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Carry out risk assessments and make recommendations on how risks could be reduced.
2. Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
3. Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
4. Audit working practices to ensure they are safe and comply with legislation.
5. Investigate incidents and accidents and brief the Operations Manager on your findings.
6. Engage staff in a positive Health and Safety culture.
7. Have extensive knowledge in Health and Safety legislation and best practices to assist with compliance and continuous improvement.
8. Develop and implement Health and Safety policies.
9. Develop and review SSOW.
10. Develop Behavioural observation and correction procedures.
Communication
1. Develop reports and communicate to the Management team.
2. Interpret and respond clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner to requests for information from colleagues, managers, directors, and external agencies.
3. Understand business demands and expectations and take them into consideration.
4. Carry out toolbox talks with staff to support the development of a positive Health & Safety culture.
5. Contribute to team meetings and events as and when required.
6. Instruct workers in the proper use of PPE and safety devices and conduct routine tests on that equipment.
7. Develop statistics on Health and Safety - Accidents, incidents, near misses. Carry out epidemiological analysis and map risk areas and formulate plans to reduce.
8. Following instructions and asking appropriate questions.
9. Develop, manage and communicate H&S KPI's.
10. Hold monthly H&S meetings with the site team.

1. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, and clients.
2. Ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner and clients/colleagues are kept informed of progress.

Administration
1. Compile statistics on accidents and injuries, analyse and determine root causes, and make recommendations to management accordingly.
2. Develop effective health and safety policies and procedures and carry out risk assessments.
3. Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility.
4. Maintain accurate paper and electronic filing systems.
