This unique role offers the chance to be part of a growing team within the QE Facilities Wholesale Unit based in the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity to undertake the duties of a Wholesale Operative and contribute to the QE Facilities Wholesale service provided by QEF Pharmacy Services. Applicants will receive on the job training covering Good Distribution Practice and MHRA regulations. The candidate must work as part of the Wholesale team to deliver on quality and safety, and be able to work independently.
Main duties of the job
Ability to support the WDA team to make decisions for issues relating to safe and efficient service delivery.
Support the growth of the WDA.
Adhere to the Quality Management System and understand responsibilities regarding this.

QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.
We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).
In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

Job responsibilities
Understand the individual responsibilities of all staff working in the QEF WDA, with all Active
SOPs having been read and signed and all accompanying competency checks signed and
witnessed by the RP or Deputy.
Support the Responsible Person or Deputy and work as part of the QEF WDA team to deliver the legal and professional obligations of a WDA registered site.
Understand the standards and principles of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and any deviations from established procedures are raised to the Responsible Person or deputy and documented.
Support the recording of ambient and fridge temperature monitoring. Understand the procedure for any temperature deviations and raise any necessary CAPAs with the Deputy RP.
Understand the importance of customer and supplier qualification and the appropriate access to medicines.
Undertake and facilitate the assembly of all signed orders and requisitions presented to the QEF WDA as described in the WDA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) inclusive of the Local Variation for the NEAS contract.
Ensure that double checks are carried out on each piece of work to ensure dual control and accuracy standards are maintained throughout the WDA.
Ensure that all outgoing deliveries have the appropriate signatures against them by the couriers, whether internal or externally handled.
Undertake appropriate training and demonstrate competency in the use of the Wellsky Pharmacy Support System for stock ordering and stock control, with monthly counts of all lines in the WDA to be carried out once all goods have been booked out to the contract customer(s).
Promote the importance of booking stock to the correct customer account and cost centre and to maintain accurate stock order records.
Work when necessary with the Procurement role to ensure the efficient the ordering and receiving of goods and to facilitate the timely payment of invoices and credit notes.
Work with the team to manage the QEF WDA stock and resolve and record any stock discrepancies. Ensure the QEF WDA Stock and Date Checking Matrix schedule is up to date and all reports are filled and expired stock written off.
Maintain the Drug Alerts file and ensure that all Recalls, Drug Alerts and Medicine Defects are actioned within the time period in SOP 14.
Maintain the Controlled Drugs Register, ensuring that each transaction is detailed within and to work alongside the Deputy RP to carry out a weekly CD balance check with zero omissions.
Support the Responsible Person or Deputy to carry out the monthly Manager checks.
Understand and support the principles of continuous improvement and take an active role in the team quality meetings when appropriate.
Work with your line manager to develop your own individual Personal Development Plans with personal objectives and action plans.
