Main duties of the job
As an Oncology Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Patient Care:
o Clinically screen all SACT prescription and process the planning and ordering of treatments for patients.
o Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize pharmaceutical care for oncology patients.
o Conduct medication reviews and provide personalized pharmaceutical care plans for oncology patients.
2. Medication Management:
o Manage and review chemotherapy and other oncology-related drug therapies.
o Ensure the safe and effective use of oncology medications, including dose adjustments and monitoring for potential adverse effects.
o Advise patients on the use of SACT medications, side effects counselling and supplementary medication.
3. Drug Information and Education:
o Serve as a resource for healthcare professionals, providing up-to-date information on oncology medications and treatment protocols.
o Educate patients and caregivers on the proper administration and management of oncology medications.
4. Quality Assurance:
o Contribute to the development and maintenance of oncology pharmacy policies, procedures and protocols.
o Monitor and evaluate the quality and safety of oncology pharmacy services.
5. Collaboration:
o Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to enhance patient outcomes.
o Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and meetings.
6. Continuous Professional Development:
o Stay informed about the latest developments in oncology pharmacy practice through ongoing education and training.
o Actively participate in professional organizations and conferences.
