HV Cable Design Engineer (Offshore)
£600-£650 per day (outside IR35)

Job Purpose:
The Cable Engineer will be responsible for implementing robust and cost-effective engineering strategies, plans, specifications, tendering, negotiating and managing offshore design, supply and installation contracts, planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics, complying with company and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent Health, Safety and Environmental performance are applied.
The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and the individual should be capable of managing teams working at different project locations.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
* Land and submarine extra-high voltage and high-voltage cables,
* Experience in design, manufacturing, construction and/or operations.
* Specification of EHV/HV cables from 33kV to 400kV
* Understanding of cable system design and related engineering studies
* Supporting contract and package manager in the delivery and execution of cable supply contracts
* Cable design and sizing optimisation
* Understanding of design issues relating to long transmission cables
* Understanding of the design issues related to installation methods and conditions
* Offshore windfarm inter-array cable layout design
* Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Achieved or eligible for qualification Chartered Engineer status.
* Substantial experience designing and working in the offshore industry, preferably offshore wind.
Essential Criteria:
* Fluent in English.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Educated to Degree level in relevant engineering discipline.
* IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
* Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with offshore/marine construction projects.
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering procedures, standards and guidance.
* Experience of working in highly skilled teams.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
