We are looking to appoint a male Teacher of PE & Games (it is an occupational requirement that the successful candidate be male).
Essential to this position is either a BA QTS or a BSc Sport Science and PCGE qualification and the ability to teach cricket, football, rugby, and/or hockey, with the relevant coaching qualification/s. A specialism in cricket would be advantageous because there is the potential for increased responsibility in the cricket programme, subject to an internal application process, in which case a minimum of UKCC Level 2 in Coaching qualification would be sought. The successful candidate will have proven ability to teach across the School's entire age range, but particularly at GCSE. A Sociology specialism and experience teaching the sociological component of the A-Level Physical Education course would be highly advantageous. Desirable for this position is a current qualification in First Aid (training will be provided if not already held).
Whether an early career teacher (ECT) or one with a few years of teaching under their belt seeking a fresh challenge, the successful candidate should be well-qualified and highly committed. They should be able to inspire and motivate pupils across the school through a diverse range of teaching and learning styles, and be able to offer outstanding pastoral care, particularly to the boys in their care. They should be able to work on Saturdays for sporting fixtures, as well as for periods during school holidays for match tours or other school trips. Involvement with these latter responsibilities will particularly suit a teacher with strong organisational and communication skills. All teaching staff should expect to be allocated a Form Teacher role as part of their responsibilities.
The Sports department at Harrodian is the largest in the school and teaches PE & Games across the entire age range, from Reception through Year 13. At Harrodian, we believe in offering a breadth of activity so that all pupils can participate and represent their school in competitive fixtures. The departmental values of responsibility, humility, work rate, discipline and enjoyment are a focus in all lessons in order to help our pupils develop the practical skills they need to achieve their potential in all areas.
The Sports department offers a professional and collaborative working environment where our students' achievement and progress are at the forefront of our teaching. We are looking for a PE teacher who consistently models excellent practice and can make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department.

Founded in 1993, the Harrodian is a co-educational school set on 25 acres of grounds with excellent facilities. Providing staff and students alike with a welcoming and exceptional learning environment, where small class sizes and high standards foster academic excellence, we value enthusiasm, adaptability and a commitment to student engagement across all ability levels. A sense of fun, responsiveness to individual learning needs, and an open approach to teaching are qualities we regard highly. Staff are also expected to contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, ensuring a holistic and enriching educational experience for all pupils. Teaching staff at Harrodian can therefore expect to lead a form and run lunchtime/after-school clubs as part of this contribution.
