Physical Education Teacher MPS / UPS 1 SEN Required April 2025 (or sooner) Elmwood School is an expanding Local Authority SEMH school in the leafy suburb of Rushall in Walsall. We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher of Physical Education to help enthuse and development of the Physical Education department into the next stages of its growth. The school has 83 mixed 11-16 year olds on roll split into three discreet areas. We offer a wide and personalised curriculum catering for a range of abilities up to BTEC’s. Therefore, a knowledge of BTEC Award in Sport would be advantageous. We are looking for an innovative person who can establish positive relationships working with young people with complex needs. You must have high expectations, flexibility and resilience. If you are passionate about making a difference and genuinely care for pupils who are on the brink of social exclusion, then we would love to meet you. The successful applicant will be an integral part of a small but thriving department in their collective drive and determination to maintain the positive outcomes currently achieved across all age ranges. The current curriculum offer includes a wide range of sports aligned to Net-wall, Invasion, Leadership, Swimming, Gymnastic and Dance. Due to the group sizes being between 6-8 we are always looking to expand our curriculum offer to include alternative sports and enriching activities. You will need experience in delivering lessons within a nurturing environment and the have the flair and creativity to deliver lessons that embody our passion of Learning Outside of The Classroom; potentially taking on responsibilities as a form tutor, as well as the creativity of engaging pupils within other thematic curriculum topics on a weekly basis. There is an opportunity in increasing the cultural capital within the Physical Education department, including inter and intra sports opportunities (across special and mainstream).
