About the role:
Hours: 15 hours per week usually worked two days over seven including Bank Holiday.

Our retail outlets provide much-needed income to the hospice, which is vital to provide care to the people of North Derbyshire. The hospice has 15 retail shops, a furniture warehouse, a donation centre, two clearance shops, and two coffee shops! We also have two online eBay platforms, for clothes and general goods and an online furniture store. It’s a big operation!
We’re seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our team. You'll be the friendly face that welcomes customers, helps them find hidden treasures, and provides a great service. Your role is key in helping us achieve our fundraising goals, so we can continue to provide the care our patients deserve.
Main responsibilities include:
* Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all visitors.
* Assist with the sorting, pricing, and displaying of donated goods.
* Operate the till and handle transactions accurately and efficiently.
* Maintain the shop’s appearance, ensuring it is clean, organised, and inviting.
* Support the shop manager with day-to-day operations and volunteer coordination.
* Promote a respectful, inclusive workplace, upholding Ashgate's values and behaviours.
About you:
You will be an integral member of the team, serving customers, pricing stock, and replenishing the sales floor. You will ensure that the shop is safe, clean, and well presented, making sure our customers have a great experience.
Skills and experience required:
* Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to adapt to different customer challenges.
* Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities and targets.
* Knowledge of cash handling/Banking protocol.
