Summary
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for creating fun and enriching experiences for kids? The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking a Recreation Summer Director to oversee our 2025 Recreation Summer Camp Program! This is a seasonal, full-time position running from May to August 2025.
What You’ll Do:
1. Lead the planning, organization, and daily operations of the Recreation Summer Camp Program.
2. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of counselors, activity leaders, and support staff.
3. Develop engaging programs while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
4. Manage schedules, budgets, and resources efficiently.
5. Serve as the primary point of contact for families, addressing questions and concerns.
6. Enforce policies, safety guidelines, and handle any emergencies professionally.
7. Evaluate program success and implement improvements as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent (college coursework in recreation or education preferred).
2. Previous leadership experience in camps, youth programs, or recreation management.
3. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
4. Ability to adapt quickly and make decisions on the spot.
5. CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the program starts).
6. Ability to pass a background check and meet regulatory requirements.
Bonus Skills:
1. Experience working with children in outdoor or recreational settings.
2. Knowledge of behavior management and conflict resolution techniques.
3. Familiarity with budgeting and administrative tasks.
