Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Rheumatology at The Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Royal United Hospitals Foundation Trust in Bath. The position is for a full-time (1.0 WTE) one-year fixed term post to commence 6th August 2025 which will provide opportunities for training in clinical rheumatology, clinical trials and research. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practice. Applicants must have completed a foundation training programme (or equivalent) and have at least 2 years' experience working in general medical specialties. Prior Rheumatology experience is preferable but not essential.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will split their time between the clinical Rheumatology team and supporting the Rheumatology research team (the ratio of clinical to research time may vary depending on the needs of the service). The appointee will work with the Principal Investigators and research nurses to recruit patients to time and target to research projects. The appointee will conduct research appointments for patients involved in research which is in line with the overall Research strategy of the Trust.
- The appointee will have the opportunity to develop and undertake a specific area of research under the guidance of a leading consultant at the RNHRD although time is variable. Small projects may be undertaken during the year for which the appointee will be expected to have research protocols agreed by the Trust's R&D office and any relevant Health Research Authority approvals, present findings at appropriate meetings and submit results for publication. There may also be the opportunity to develop larger project applications for future external funding with the potential opportunity for the appointee to register for a higher degree (ie MD or PhD) through the University of Bath.

* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Must have or be able to register and hold license to practice with the General Medicine Council (GMC)
* If, where the applicant is applying from, PLAB is necessary, applicants must have parts 1 and 2 or be exempt
