Howdens are looking for an experienced Projects Cost Manager to oversee the financial aspects of capital projects within our engineering team. Working closely with our Project Managers and Engineers, you will develop robust budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure projects are completed within budget. In this role you will be responsible for cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, and collaborating with the finance team. You will have a solid understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and cost control and the ability to drive improvements within the team. What will you be doing as a Projects Cost Manager:
* Collaborating with Project Managers and Engineers to develop detailed and accurate project budget
* Working with the project team to develop and maintain cash flow forecasts for capital projects
* Monitoring project expenditures and ensure alignment with the approved budget
* Providing regular reports on the financial status of projects, including budget adherence and any variances
* Identifying and reporting on any instances of budget overspend, and work with the project team to develop corrective actions
* Overseeing and reporting on the financial status of the entire portfolio of capital projects
* Working closely with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with organisational policies
What do you need to qualify for the Projects Cost Manager
* A bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, finance, accounting, business administration or a related field
* Proficiency in Excel and SAP is essential
* Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
* Proven experience of driving continuous improvement
* An excellent understanding of project management principles and practices
* A solid understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and cost control. Familiarity with project management processes and tools
