Provide therapeutic support to students with SEMH needs, using art as a medium for expression and development. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote emotional well-being and resilience in young people. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver tailored art therapy sessions to individual students or small groups, addressing their specific SEMH challenges. Assess students' needs and progress, adapting therapeutic approaches to maximize engagement and outcomes. Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to integrate therapy into students’ wider support plans. Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and contribute to reports for meetings and reviews. Support the school’s ethos of inclusion, fostering a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued. Participate in staff meetings, training, and school initiatives related to mental health and well-being. Qualifications and Skills A recognized qualification in Art Therapy (MA or equivalent) and HCPC registration. Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational setting. A strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practices, and mental health challenges. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and families. Creativity, empathy, and resilience in addressing the varied needs of students. A clear enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
