We have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-Construction & Technical Manager to join our team. This role can be based out of our Head Office in Liverpool City Centre, or on site in Manchester.
You will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring that design solutions meet client requirements, budgetary constraints, and project timelines. Collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure seamless design coordination and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Pre-Construction Involvement: Work closely with the design team members, providing technical advice and ensuring that design proposals align with project specifications and budgetary constraints.
* Value Engineering: Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to optimise design solutions without compromising on quality.
* Regulatory and Legal Compliance: Ensure all design solutions comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, including building regulations, planning permissions, sustainability targets, and legal standards such as the Building Safety Act (BSA) and industry regulations.
* Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate design-related risks, ensuring that potential issues are addressed early in the project lifecycle.
* Programme Management: Develop and take forward the design programme, ensuring that all design activities are completed in line with project milestones.
* Design Coordination: Manage the design process on projects, coordinating with architects, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of design information.
* Design Review: Regularly review and approve design documents, ensuring that they meet client expectations, building regulations, and quality standards.
Person Specification:
* Proven experience as a Pre-Construction or Technical Manager within the construction industry, ideally with a focus on residential high rise new build or re-cladding projects.
* Strong technical knowledge of building regulations, construction methodologies and design processes. Comfortable with Building regs, BSA legislation, BS documents, statutory processes etc.
* Experience in managing the design process from tender through to project completion.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and mitigate design risks.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
* Passionate about technical delivery.
* Enjoys a process driven role.
* Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) processes and software is desirable.
