The Head of Clinical Governance & Patient Experience will provide leadership, direction and oversight of all aspects of clinical governance for Fresenius Kabi and Calea in UK and Ireland. The post holder is responsible for leading and overseeing the improvement and monitoring of a comprehensive clinical governance framework, providing a structured approach for accountability and transparency across the organisation. This approach, underpinned by embedded strategies, should support a culture of learning and continuous improvement, with a focus on safety, clinical quality and risk management. This critical role will also improve patient experience by helping the organisation to better understand patients and carers needs through service improvement, information provision, influencing and research. We offer an agile working policy so some time may be spent working from home in addition to some business travel Key Accountabilities Provide specialist advice, support and guidance to colleagues in relation to a governance, clinical effectiveness, risk, patient safety and quality assurance. Lead oversight and assurance processes for compliance with regulations and regulatory bodies. Strategically align the improvement processes across the organisation Patient Safety Monitor compliance with Incident Reporting Procedures and Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRF) Support the continual development of an open and honest safety culture Provide support to the relevant Directors and Business Units who have a designated lead responsibility for ensuring the organisation meets required standards Monitor and review all safety / risk policies, procedures and guidelines on a regular basis ensuring compliance with statutory obligations Ensure best practice with regards to adverse event reporting, monitoring, trend analysis, action plans and changes in practice Patient Experience Lead & drive the patient experience strategy for Fresenius Kabi & Calea (UK & Ireland) Stay informed on regulatory changes, trends, and innovations related to patient experience, providing direction to staff on suitable standards required at all times Identify strengths and areas for improvement in patient experience and develop strategies to address them Collaborate across the business to set patient experience goals and monitor progress Oversight and use of patient and carer feedback to influence the development of services, working with stakeholders to provide timely information and develop actions plan where relevant Risk Management Support the continual development of a culture where Risk Management is integral to all processes within the business Review of the clinical governance risk management policy and strategy Ensure that there are structured and systematic processes for the assessment, analysis, control and prioritisation of clinical governance risks Develop appropriate policies and procedures where any deficit may exist Quality Improvement Support the QSUS annual accreditation programme within the Nursing service and in CQC & Scottish Care Inspectorate inspection activities Oversee the patient complaints process Safeguarding Designated Safeguarding Lead Support staff who make referrals to local authority Provide advice and guidance on safeguarding related matters and concerns Training Identify appropriate education and training opportunities for patient safety, risk management and governance related activities Identify available training, coaching, and resources to promote improvements in patient experience Work with the Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement Manager to promote education on incident investigation methodology and the principles of Duty of Candor. Experience & Qualifications Experience of quality improvement, patient safety and governance Experience of incident investigation and root cause analysis training Knowledge of and experience in the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), CQC & Scottish Care Inspectorate regulatory requirements Qualified to a minimum of Level 5 in Safeguarding Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience. Senior leadership experience in a clinical setting. Experience of developing, implementing and monitoring risk and patient safety systems and processes Significant experience of successful change management, performance management and project planning Comprehensive knowledge of quality improvement and regulation in healthcare High level communication skills and experience of collaborative working with a wide range of stakeholders Ability to work effectively under pressure We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination.
