Area Manager | 7520 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £55,147 to £60,676 per annum (Scale M) | County Hall
We are looking for an Area Manager to lead the City Area highway maintenance team consisting of approximately 16 members of staff. The role supports the Assistant Director Highways Services in delivering highways services across Norfolk. As such you will be part of the Highways Services Management Team, actively contributing to the leadership and direction of the service in order to support the priorities of the County Council.
The successful candidate will manage the City Area team in the delivery of the highway and winter services, including the local Streetworks function, so that works are ordered, permitted and implemented to agreed standards, procedures, specification, programme, legislation and budget.
In addition, you will be responsible for the service activities within the allocated area including budgets, member/public interface, correspondence and highway inspection to meet service plan and departmental targets. Provide support to Highway Engineers in responding to communications from MP's, public bodies and members of the public, as necessary to ensure standards are met. Accordingly, you will be required to be an excellent communicator and customer focused in your approach to the service.
Good knowledge and working experience of highways legislation such as the Highways Act, New Roads and Street Works Act, and Traffic Management Act is required in order to deliver strong leadership for the team and to provide accurate advice to internal and external customers.
A strong financial acumen is essential to deliver the service within budget and identify efficiencies.
Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer with substantial relevant experience in Civil Engineering or an alternative construction related profession.
