Job Description
As our new Senior Analytical Chemist, you’ll lead a small team that provides analytical services to support Group Technology, the businesses, Scott Bader Group sites and other internal departments.
You’ll provide specialist analytical support to key strategic projects and to act as an expert/internal consultant in the field of analytical chemistry.
Some of your key responsibilities:
* You’ll manage and execute agreed Analytical work for Group Technology, Technical Service, the Global businesses and their customers and to provide support for the Operations teams.
* You will work with the MSG Manager to ensure that all analytical equipment is maintained, calibrated and serviced, as appropriate.
* You’ll develop new test methods to analyse new types of samples or materials, when appropriate.
* You will liaise with suppliers, trade associations, universities and external testing laboratories, to maintain knowledge and understanding in the field of Analytical Science in order to keep the rest of the company abreast of such technology, to ensure that we can maximise our offer in this field and to represent the company technically.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
* We would love for you to hold a degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry and experience of interpretation of analytical chemistry data.
* You have experience of analysis of polymeric materials.
* You are experienced in using and interpreting data from some or all of the following techniques: IRS, GC, GC-MS, GPC, HPLC, NMR, DSC, ICP, LC-MS, FTIR.
* You are an inspirational leader with the ability to develop an experienced team.
* You hold proven experience in a R&D Measurement Science type environment.
