Main duties of the job
What you'll be responsible for:
1. Assessing and monitoring patient conditions and arranging diagnostic tests
2. Recognising deterioration in the physical or mental condition of a patient and taking appropriate action / escalation
3. Recognising, responding to, and managing emergency situations
4. Displaying excellent analytical ability and sound decision making in changing clinical situations
5. Recognising limitations and escalating concerns
6. The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above

What you can add:
7. To work as an autonomous practitioner, providing completed episodes of care to individuals.
8. Work within agreed guidelines and protocols where they exist and having autonomous decision-making capacity in the absence of guidelines.
9. Where applicable, prescribe within knowledge and skills, and in accordance with national and local guidelines.
10. Work within scope of practice using specialist knowledge in relation to minor injuries and health problems, and drawing on relevant experience, to deliver quality patient care.
11. Work in partnership with other health and social care providers
12. Provide service users with the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the service
13. To undertake prioritisation of service users according to medical need.
14. Interventions are timely and may include emergency and surgical invasive procedures, administration of emergency therapies, and urgent medications.
15. To contribute to the ongoing development of clinical guidelines, reflecting best evidencebased practice.
16. Referrals to both primary and secondary services are made in line with agreed guidelines and with clear, contemporaneous notes, which accurately reflect the consultation and reasons for referral.
17. Supply and administer medications in accordance with legislation and organisational policies
18. Managing performance of other team members reporting to Lead Nurse where appropriate.
19. Ensure appropriate skill mix is allocated to each shift in order that the service needs are met efficiently and effectively, anticipating and addressing shortfalls which may need to be covered.
20. Ensuring effective communication with patients offering informed choice. Recognising and addressing patients anxieties and behaviours when managing acute health problems.
21. Maintaining effective communication with other team members ensuring all team members are kept involved and informed in the delivery and continued development of the service.
22. Caldicott Guardianship is effective. Consent and confidentiality are maintained in line with data protection and consent policies.
23. Quality controls are performed by all staff. Risk assessments are performed and forwarded for action where appropriate
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
What you'll need:
24. Registered Nurse Level 1 or HCPC registered paramedic.
25. Post-registration diploma or equivalent in advanced assessment skills for nonmedical practitioners.
26. Post-registration diploma or equivalent in managing minor injury for advanced practice.
27. Post-registration diploma or equivalent in managing minor illness/health problems for advanced practice.
28. ILS or willingness to undertake.
29. Evidence of continuing professional development
30. Non-medical prescriber
31. Minimum 4 years postregistration experience in ED or UTC/walk-in centre.
32. Proven track record in relation to research-based practice
33. Experience with audit.
34. Experience of managing within a healthcare setting.
35. Experience of staff management.
36. Evidence of professional development.
