Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.
Job responsibilities
This is a wonderful opportunity to join our expanding breast oncology nurse team in delivering safe, patient-focused care and supporting our senior clinicians with the ever-growing caseload of patients receiving oncology treatment for early and secondary breast cancer. The role will include providing support, advice, and signposting to patients during and beyond their treatment. You will be able to monitor blood results, scan results, and symptoms, knowing when and where to escalate any concerns. You will support patients with complex treatment regimes, liaising with the consultants, acute oncology team, seamoor unit, and pharmacy to ensure the best outcomes for patients on active treatment. You will develop caring, professional relationships with patients and their families, often being the first port of call when they have queries.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in oncology, acute medicine, or breast cancer. You will be flexible, able to prioritize needs, keen to develop services, and a team player. You will be able to support patients with empathy and understanding, balancing their needs with the services available, often having to think outside of the box to personalize care. You will be keen to develop your knowledge and skills, providing education and support to student nurses, new members of staff, and other health professionals.
