Our client, a global defence company based in North London, is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their team.
This is a field-based role, supporting customers by conducting various activities on Naval vessels, Commercial vessels, and Shore Based Systems.
Traveling within the UK and multiple overseas destinations is a regular feature of this role, and requests to travel could be made at short notice; however, most visits are short trips lasting no longer than 2 weeks.
Duties of the Field Service Engineer
1. Carry out service interventions which can include installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and acceptance tests.
2. Completing detailed service reports and expenses on completion of each activity in a timely manner.
3. Communicate effectively with line management any information relating to technical issues seen in the field.
4. While in the office, support Customer Services Technical Helpdesk by responding to Customers' emails and, when required, writing Technical Advice Sheets.
5. Strive for Quality, Improvement, and Customer Satisfaction.
6. Familiarise and observe all Health and Safety rules and regulations during working hours.
7. Complete training courses as required.
8. On occasions, be prepared to work in excess of the normal 37-hour week or anti-social hours while observing contractual obligations.
Key Skills for the role of Field Service Engineer
1. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
2. Knowledge of computers including hardware and software applications.
3. Knowledge of basic Networking.
4. Self-motivated.
5. Full driving licence.
6. Valid passport.
7. Experience in the field servicing environment, preferably Marine but not essential.
