Please note, this role can be based out of our Holborn, Coventry or Manchester Store Support Centre & Home. Colleagues go into our Holborn office 1 day per week on average.
In this role you will deliver the business risk management framework, supporting managers, colleagues and Executives to identify and monitor risks effectively to assess them against the organisation’s risk appetite. You'll develop the tools and templates, frameworks, requirements and reporting to support risk discussions across the business. Maintain risk information relating to Corporate and Divisional risks, ensuring it is current and tracked, and challenge management of risk mitigation strategies. You'll also support on risk workshops as required and the business’s annual disclosures relating to risk.

* Understand Risk Policy: Thoroughly comprehend the relevant risk policy and framework, escalate any policy gaps or opportunities for enhancement, and ensure alignment of risk and control activities in divisions and across the corporate risk landscape with relevant policies.
* Maintain Risk Information: Keep risk dashboards, maps, KRIs, and other supporting information current to reflect ongoing risk conversations, assessments, and other pertinent data.
* Facilitate Risk Workshops: Drive a continuous risk focus within the business by assisting the Head of Risk Management and other Heads of Audit and Risk in facilitating workshops and meetings to help management identify, assess, and manage key business risks.
* Build Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with risk owners across the business. Support these owners in understanding and monitoring changing risk profiles and the impact of KRIs and risk actions.
* Support Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the regulatory reporting process to develop the Principal Risks & Uncertainties disclosure for the Annual Report.
* Monitor Trends: Stay informed about new and emerging trends in Risk Management through external networks, evaluate their applicability to Sainsbury’s, and integrate relevant practices into ways of working.
* Corporate Governance Response: Develop responses to corporate governance requirements (particularly those prescribed by the FRC), and assess and advise on their impact on the business.
* Collaborate with Assurance Providers: Align and collaborate with other risk assurance and controls providers across the business to eliminate duplication while enhancing standards.
* Provide Independent Insight: Respond to requests from business stakeholders by offering ad hoc independent risk insights and advice, and coordinate support as needed.
* Share Insights: Disseminate insights regarding risk management trends and our risk profile across the wider Internal Audit and Risk team.
* Line Management: You will line manage and develop a Controls Manager.
More about you
* Experience of facilitating risk management discussions and workshops at all levels, including leadership teams.
* Demonstrable experience or understanding of different risk management and control environments.
* Experience of working in complex operational environments.
* Professional Qualification in Enterprise Risk Management, finance or audit from a recognised Institute.
* Proven track record in developing strong stakeholder relationships at different seniority levels.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which includes an ability to explain the impact of risks to stakeholders across the business.
* Self-starter who requires little or no day-to-day support to manage / prioritise workload, able to deliver work on time, to budget and to the expected quality.
* Strong analytical and report writing skills.
* Curiosity to learn new skills / knowledge and a commitment to personal development.
* Good understanding of Risk Management frameworks, trends and external developments.
* Strong commercial acumen.
* Demonstrable ability to apply sound judgement.
